Waki Mouse features

01 / Independent scrolling

One direction for the trackpad, another for the wheel.

Natural scrolling feels right on a trackpad and wrong on a wheel. Set each the way it should be, once. Sideways scrolling with a tilt wheel or Shift follows the mouse setting.

Waki Mouse · Scroll direction for the trackpad and for wheel mice
  • Per-device directionTrackpad: natural or reverse. Mouse: natural or reverse. The two never interfere.
  • Magic Mouse and smooth wheelsThe Magic Mouse follows the trackpad setting. Wheel mice, including smooth free-spinning wheels such as Logitech MX, follow the mouse setting.
  • Sideways tooTilt wheels and Shift-scrolling follow the mouse direction, so horizontal scrolling is not backwards either.

02 / Scroll & pointer speed

A wheel that covers ground. A pointer that keeps up.

A wheel notch scrolls a few lines in macOS. Multiply it, from a quarter to three times, and long pages become short. The trackpad is left alone. Pointer speed has its own slider, the same value as System Settings.

Mouse wheel scroll multiplier

0.25× · precise
1× · macOS default
3× · long pages in a flick
Wheel multiplier · applied when you release the slider; the trackpad is unaffected
  • 0.25× to 3×Set a multiplier for wheel scrolling. Turn it down for precision work, up for reading and code.
  • Trackpad untouchedThe multiplier applies to wheel events only. Trackpad and Magic Mouse scrolling keep their native feel.
  • Pointer speedThe same tracking speed macOS exposes in System Settings › Mouse, on a slider next to your scroll settings.

03 / Pause & presence

One switch off, settings kept.

Something scrolling oddly in one app? Flip the master switch and every adjustment stops, with your settings intact, so you can tell in seconds whether Waki Mouse is involved. The engine shows its state so you know it is running.

  • The master switchOne toggle turns every adjustment off together. Nothing is reset.
  • Engine statusThe window shows whether the scroll engine is running and how many events it has adjusted, so a stalled engine is never a mystery.
  • Menu bar, Dock, loginRun it from the menu bar, the Dock or both; keep it running when the window closes; open at login.
